This excellent charity run a native bird hospital and have noted an increasing number of life-threatening cases where birds have collided with (increasingly tall) buildings, been dazzled by night lights, or contracted contagious, waterborne diseases (e.g., Avian Botulism). We are posing the question ‘How can our expanding city create greater protection for native birds where habitat areas and human infrastructure meet?’ Dr Parker’s expertise will help us and our supporters to gain a better understanding the role city residents and urban planners can play in creating a more manu-friendly Tāmaki Makaurau.
