Te Waiōrea / Western Springs Lakeside Park is a much-loved green oasis in the heart of inner-west Auckland, with potential to become a thriving biodiversity hotspot. Urban Ark – Manawa Taiao supports a community group which maintains a rat and possum trapline on the hillside close to Westmere. The group also holds occasional weeding bees and rubbish pickups. We hope that the trapline can be expanded to other parts of the park where, saddly, rats are still prevalent.
