Urban Ark have teamed up with Auckland University Tramping Club to keep invasive weeds and predators under control at Auckland Domain.
This included a series of events with our keen group of volunteers working to restore a significant site where arborists have taken down invasive privet trees. The club has chosen to adopt the site and maintain it, to ensure that the trees planted have a good chance of survival in the years to come. This is a wonderful opportunity to foster ongoing engagement with a local pocket of nature and to transform a site once overgrown with invasive plants into a hotspot for native flora and fauna.
We also run two traplines in the domain which have successfully caught significant numbers of rats and possums entering this pocket of biodiversity from the CBD.
