This month, Pt Chev’s Second Sunday Weeders will be back at Motions Reserve, an area where we did some “species enrichment” last year and some ‘releasing’ in spring. The plan is to revisit those plants and gently free them from any weeds which are trying to take over. This will give the plants a better chance of surviving the winter and contributing to enhanced biodiversity of the ngahere in years to come. The birds will love the year-round food supply.

• Meet on the grass beside the trap crossing outside Auckland Zoo (136 Motions Rd)
• Bring your favourite gardening gloves and secatuers if you have them, but we’ll also have spare gear you can borrow.
• If you don’t have two hours to spare, but drop in for as long as you can manage.

Sometimes there is cake, often there is good chat, and always there are weeds to pull.
