Te Wai Ōrea community meeting

Monday 31 July 2023, 7:00pm - 8:30pm

Te Wai Ōrea needs your aroha!

Western Springs Lakeside Park has seen troubled times. Removing the pines divided the community, but everyone wants fewer pests and more native birds.

Urban Ark - Manawa Taiao is hosting this event with the intention of creating a community groups focused on giving the park some extra aroha. There will be a chance to meet others keen on helping enhance the native biodiversity of Te Wai Ōrea, plenty of time for discussion kicked off by a series of short talks. We envisage the group being involved with some or all of the following, but we’re open to suggestions of how else the community can be involved:

  • Native Planting
  • Weeding
  • Predator control
  • Pest monitoring
  • biodiversity monitoring

Alex Bonham – Waitematā Local Board

Siân Buley – Auckland Zoo Pest Management Coordinator & Urban Ark trustee
