Friends of Maungawhau - Summer sessions

Saturday 2 April 2022, 9:30am - 12:00pm

Our monthly Saturday sessions during the summer are focussed on weeding and releasing native plants and nursery work.

Meet at the end of Batger Rd, off Mt Eden Rd. Please come prepared for the weather – sturdy shoes or boots, hat, sunscreen, raincoat. We can supply gloves if you don’t have them.

Connecting People with Parks: Oakley Creek

Tuesday 5 April 2022, 8:00am - 4:00pm

Conservation Volunteers NZ run their Connecting People with Parks with volunteer activites around Auckland on Tuesdays. Each week, volunteers undertake a variety of tasks which depending on the time of year may include weed removal, mulching, nursery work, planting, and litter removal. This programme provides the perfect opportunity to immerse yourself in nature, learn about our native fauna and flora and explore the many parks that Tāmaki Makaurau/Auckland has to offer.

This week, Oakley Creek in Waterview.

Guided rock forest walk – Gribblehhirst Park

Learn about a unique but little-known forest ecosystem in the heart of urban Auckland. Phil Simpson recently completed an ecological study of Gribblehirst bush and will share his findings, as well as providing interesting local history relating to this patch of critically endangered lava ‘rock forest’
