Second Sunday Weeders 2025 Nov

Sunday 9 November 2025, 9:00am - 11:00am

This month, Pt Chev’s Second Sunday Weeders will be working along the banks of Waitītiko / Meola Creek at Te Mahurehure Marae. Pt Chev’s St Francis School and Whitebait Connection collaborated on a streamside planting at the marae back in May. The plan is to revisit those plants and gently free them from any weeds which are trying to take over. This will give the plants a better chance of surviving through their first summer. We hope that as the plants mature they will provide breeding habitat for inanga (whitebait) here at the tidal limit of the awa.

  • Meet outside Te Mahurehure Marae at 65 Premier Avenue, Point Chevalier
  • Bring your favourite gardening gloves and secatuers if you have them, but we’ll also have spare gear you can borrow.
  • If you don’t have two hours to spare, but drop in for as long as you can manage.

Sometimes there is cake, often there is good chat, and always there are weeds to pull.
