Community Planting - Tole Reserve, Ponsonby
Saturday 12 July 2025, 9:00am - 11:30am
Join us for a ‘species enrichment’ planting event at Tole Reserve, a hidden gem of a park in Ponsonby. We will be adding native species which have been lost to the area, in order to increase the plant diversity and provide a wider range of year-round food sources for native birds and a more diverse habitat for lizards and insects. In particular we’d like to eventually attract kererū as regular visitors to this park, which has the potential to act as a small stepping stone between the Waitakere ranges and the offshore islands of the Haurki gulf.
Please RSVP to our restoration advisor [Enable JavaScript to view protected content] if you plan to come, so we can plan how much gear and catering to bring.
It would be great if you can try to be on time for a 9am start so we’re all together for the short karakia and safety briefing.
Recommended to wear
-Raincoat, just in case there are showers.
-Hiking/work-boots with good grip, as the steeper ground may be slippery in places.
Recommended to bring
-Water bottle.
-Spade and gloves if you happen to own them … if not we’ll provide them for you.
See red dot on map above for meeting point. Look out for the Urban Ark flag.
We’ll be putting on a cuppa and biscuits when the mahi is done, so it will also be good chance to meet a few locals while you pat yourself on the back for doing something positive for your local environment.
