We’re not aware of any kākā nesting in the central Tāmaki Makaurau, but incidental sightings fee like thy are becoming more common.
Central Auckland is sandwiched between resident populations of kākā (Nestor meridionalis) in the Waitākere Ranges and on Hauraki Gulf islands. Kākā are happy flying long distances and sometimes stop over in between the two areas.
