Pest Free Gladstone is expanding.
If you live in the section of Mt Albert that’s north of New North Road then you’re in the Pest Free Gladstone zone. We’re a new-ish group (started in August 2022) and we are keen to bring more native biodiversity to our lovely neighbourhood. The initial push is to get more people trapping, but we hope to move on to controlling weeds and encouraging the planting of native species. We want to see tūī and other native birds everywhere in our area, but we are particularly focused on the section of our ‘hood which borders the Waitītīkō stream (a.k.a Meola Creek). This will help to buffer the rat and possum control work being regularly undertaken by volunteers on the other sdie of the stream in Chamberlain Park.
