Urban Ark – Manawa Taiao is a Charitable Trust which was formed in early 2020. We currently have 5 trustees with a range of backgrounds: check them out here.
We are looking for one or more new trustees. If you’d like to be at the heart of what we do and help shape the direction of the organisation, or know someone who would, here is a prime opportunity. It is a voluntary position requiring a commitment of at least 5 hours per month. The board typically meets monthly.
It grew from Predator Free Inner West, a collective of groups in the region west of Auckland’s CBD out to Pt Chevalier and Waterview, then south to Sandringham and Balmoral including Mt Albert and Mt Eden. All groups are focused on improving native biodiversity, many thought trapping but also weeding, planting and advocacy for our awa. It now has two part time contractors, Paul Whitfield and Phil Simpson.
The Trust Board welcomes all interested applicants, but is particularly open to:
- applicants with links to local iwi
- other applicants who would increase our cultural diversity
- younger applicants who would widen our age diversity
If you are interested, please contact Paul by email or on 021 150 8284.
