Now there’s a Western Songbird Project
Auckland’s eastern bays have had an Eastern Songbird Project for some time. Now there’s an inner west equivalent. For the last couple of years Predator Free West Lynn have been rat trapping in back gardens around Sackville, Hakanoa and Tutanekai streets in West Lynn. They’ve also done fantastic work restoring Hakanoa Reserve which had been pretty weeding. It is not looking great and is being used as model for other part restorations in the neighbourhood.
As the group matured it became time for a new name, Manu Tīoriori i te Uru. The Western Songbird Project seeks to Promote native birdlife through local planting and trapping.
