Bat walk - Jagger’s Bush / Seddon Fields / Meola Creek
Come for a stroll on a spring evening along forest margins close to fresh water. We’ll be carrying bat monitors and hoping to detect ngā pekepeka, New Zealand’s endangered long-tailed bats. There are bats not far away in the Waitakere Ranges, but previous surveys haven’t found bats in Auckland’s inner west. We’re hoping to change that.
Bring strong footwear, something warm to wear and a torch (preferably with a red light or a red filter). There will be no public toilets nearby, so go beforehand. If it is raining we’ll delay to another day.
Meet on Old Mill Rd at the bottom of the hill where Motions Creek crosses Old Mill Rd.
